I failed. I'm no more of a song writer than you or Billy Joel..

Charlie Brooker's latest venture 'Black Mirror' continues to examine the darker side of the human psyche; The trilogy concludes this Sunday (18th December), last Sundays episode focused on a horrific talent contest that will (hopefully) remain in the realms of fiction; The song that plays out the episode is a beautiful slice of New Orleans soul from Irma Thomas.
Wonder if there's time for the X Factor winners to re-record it in time for Christmas? Lets hope bastard bloody hope not.
'Black Mirror' is available on 4OD.

Someone make her a dude, so I can punch her..

Luke Abbott's 'Holkham Drones' is undoubtedly one of the finest electronic records of recent memory; Standout album track 'Brazil' was released last month as part of an EP featuring remixes from Gold Panda and Etienne Jaumet, with new track 'Grumble' thrown in for good measure.
It's the lead track that we feature here as it's pretty much the perfect dance floor record; Get your copy here.

You're in a throbbing, cosmic, womb of creativity..

Lots to get through before we wrap up 2011; Zomby has a new EP 'Nothing' out on 4AD, a splendid appendage to his 'Dedication' LP that dropped earlier in the year.
From it here's 'Labyrinth', a jump up hardcore tune for the ketamine generation. Get your copy here.

Yo, I need my genitals..

This compilation from Cosmic Car records will make a splendid gift for the audiophile in your life; 'Flash Your Lights: The Music of the Electrifying Mojo' is a supreme compilation of edits and original tracks deployed from the mother ship of legendary Detroit radio jock, Electrifying Mojo. He was responsible for giving the likes of Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills and Derrick May their first plays on the radio.
Some tasty reworks from the likes of A Number of Names, B52's, Capricorn and many more. It's the Ron Hardy edit of Prince's 'Traffic Jam' that we feature here (Naturally). Pick the record up from Boomkat.
