Come at the King, you best not miss..

Muchas gracias to Mr Hunter for the heads up on today's tune; The SBTRKT record didn't really grab me upon it's release, however the EP that preceded contains something very special.
'Step In The Shadows' came out on Young Turks towards the end of 2010, the last track is the monstrous 'Hide Or Seek'; It contains the simplest of bass lines that'll be bouncing round your brainbox for weeks. Nice strings too.

He's Like a Large, Menstruating Snail..

A sizzling slice of Acid house for you to wrap round your eardrums today; Instra:Mental recently put out a split release on Martyn's 3024 label with Trevino, his side is pure 3am, hold on to your ribcage vibes. Check the full release at Boomkat.

Cut the sweet shit, twinkle toes..

Optimo music return with a very special release; Chris Carter's 'Moonlight' was part of his 1985 long player 'Mondo Beat'. The record has been bootlegged many times and has been a DJ favorite since the late eighties.
Optimo employ the services of Neurotic Drum Band & Oneohtrix Point Never for their reinterpretations of the original (And they are reinterpretations as there were no parts to work with and they had to start from scratch).
Its the NDB take that we feature here, in the words of the label:

'Keeping the original feel, slowing it down just a touch and ultra cosmic-a-fying it for an ultra-headtrip psychedelic spaceflight'

Keep an eye out for the 12" which is due in early November.

Thin line between Heaven and here..

Pharaohs have picked a fine time to introduce their baggy influenced grooves to the Universe, on this kind of form they'll be on the Heaton park bill alongside the Inspirals and Northside.
This is more Monday's than Roses influenced though, 'Uhh, Uhh' is the musical compadre of Vince Clarke's 'WFL' remix; All bubbling arpeggiators and descending piano motifs.
Check the EP on 100% Silk.

It was my hair that had taken the quantum leap forward..

Modeselektor return with their third studio album 'Monkeytown' on their own Monkeytown imprint. It confirms their place (At least in my brain) as the eminent dance floor act in current circulation.
You get the usual rib rattling epicness that has long been their disposition, the most interesting productions though are with the guest vocalists that litter the record. Stellar contributions from the likes of Thom Yorke, PVT and Anti Pop Consortium, it's the futuristic R&B collaboration with Miss Platinum that we feature here. How long before Rhianna or Beyonce are calling up the Modeselektor hot line? Not very if they have any sense..

I thought you were born in pinstripes..

If your in the market for a decent remix, The Emperor Machine is always value for money; Bigger bang for your buck.
Take his recent rework of Brioski's 'Radio Anatomy' in which he augments the originals Italo tendencies and smears on some of his trademark disco sheen.
Pick up the full release at Juno Download.

It Woke The Moon!

As someone who writes about music, I sometimes approach my inbox with some trepidation (I do try a listen to everything that gets sent through); The ratio of good to bad music is unfortunately stacked towards the dreadful end of the scale.
Along come Peopleodian to redress the balance with details of their debut EP 'It Woke The Moon!' on their own Orbiting Tone Lab label.
You'll no doubt note the references to Broadcast, Stereolab & The Advisory Circle in their super slick psychedelic productions, underpinned by that rarest of things; GREAT TUNES.
Keep your eyes on their Bandcamp page for full details, here's a little taste in the shape of 'Muddy Dream'.

Ghost People

Martyn returns this week with his second album 'Ghost People' on Brainfeeder records; It's a fantastic modern dance floor record that merges elements of bass, funk & techno effortlessly. A must purchase for anyone with properly functioning ears.
Particularly epic is album closer 'We Are You In The Future', you can listen to the whole album by clicking below.

What good is being an outlaw when you have responsibilities?

A little Polish disco to kick off our week; Klaus Mittffoch were active in the late 70's and early 80's and are considered one of the most important bands in Polish history.
Jacek Mental gets a hold of 'Jestem Tu Jestem Tam' and turns in a stupendous rework that'll keep your dance floor moving nicely.

This place is a crime scene, you murdered joy..

We mentioned Connan Mockasin's debut LP 'Please Turn Me Into Snat' upon it's original release last year, time to give it another bump as it's been recently re-issued with a bonus live performance chucked in;
It also didn't quite get the love it should have done as it's a very fine record that's drenched in Kiwi kaleidoscopics. Pick it up here.

After Hours Athletes

Very excited to be able to give you the chance to get your mits on some Warehouse Project tickets; The good people over at Puma Social are giving you the chance to win tickets for a couple of nights at the WHP (Which is in it's final season).
The first event is on Oct 22nd and it's a Hospitality show case with the likes of High Contrast, London Elektricity, DJ Marky and oodles more.
The second event takes place on Nov 26th and features Andrew Weatherall, Optimo, Space Dimensions Controller & many others (hubba hubba). All you have to do is tell Puma why you and 3 mates should go to one of The Warehouse Project with Puma nights of your choice. Simple. All the details are here. Bonne Chance.

I need a human pyramid. And it's got to be a naked human pyramid..

Walls return with new LP 'Coracle' in tow, a swift follow up to last years self titled debut; It sees duo Sam Willis (Allez Allez) & Alessio Natalizia (Banjo Or Freakout) continue their kraut-aping experiments, this time with one foot firmly on the dance floor; A very halcyon listen that is the aural equivalent of playing conkers in the sunshine.
Pick up your copy of 'Coracle' here.

We're fucking thrilled and fucking amazed to be here..

A couple of kosmische ditty's to get us underway in October; Splendid debut release from Goitia Deitz, a mysterious production duo from Brooklyn, NYC to alert you to first. 'Romance/Coma' is out on Disc Error recordings:

'Their recorded experiments in minimal electronics hint towards an extensive record collection and a shared bonding over their love of Krautrock, Kosmische & Italo.

All tracks are produced on analog equipment recorded live in one take. Nothing is pre-planned or written'

You can get the 7" (Which will be shipped in black foil bags with black disco jackets) from the website or digitally through the Bandcamp page.

Regular viewers will be au fait with Higamos Hogamos; In celebration of the Autumn equinox he's made his latest creation 'Spacerocks' available for nish; A 15 minute jam full of bubbling electronics and a nice precursor to their LP which is due early in 2012. Have a gander:
