I've never had a problem with drugs. I've had problems with the police..

This week sees the release of the fifth studio album from Death In Vegas; During the seven years since DIV's last long player main man Richard Fearless decamped to New York city and spent many hours experimenting in the studio in an attempt to define his sound.
What we get with 'Trans Love Energies' is a wholly dance floor based record with nods to Germany in the early 1970's, New York in the late 70's and Acid house in the the late eighties; We are featuring 'Your Loft My Acid' which is exactly the type of thing you'd like to hear if your were dancing at the loft on acid.

Autumn's the mellow time..

Scuba's 'Triangulation' was one of our best-loved releases from 2010, the Berlin-based producer has just put out his first material since then with the 'Adrenaline' EP on his very own Hotflush imprint; It's one of the B sides that most pricked our ears, 'Never' is a pitched down excursion with sharp use of the vocal sample. Also look out for the man's DJ kicks which is out very soon.

You're losing weight, and I'm losing interest..

Lot's of noise for Clams Casino at the moment & why not? His 'Instrumentals' LP has been a fine musical companion these past few weeks, a smart blend of hip hop beats with a dance aesthetic. The stand out track for me is the epic Bjork sampling 'Illest Alive'.
Apparently the young tyke made these tracks in the loft of his Mum's house with her frequently crashing computer. Buy a copy so he can get an upgrade will ya?

Fuck You, And Your Eyebrows..

A splendiferous new release from Voltaire Records to clue you in on; It's a split release between NY's Publicist (Comprising of Sebastian Thomson who drums for Trans Am) and San Fran's Tussle; It contains both an original composition by each and a remix of the other artists' previously released material.
It's the Tussle remix of 'Hand To Mouth' that we feature, a vocodered, electro behemoth that will keep your disco ball rotating for hours. Get your copy here.

Lose your dreams and you might lose your mind..

Rounding off a splendid week with news of a resplendent new record from T.E.E. (Turzi Electronique Experience). As the title suggests, it's a computerized record from Gallic producer Turzi who's last release was of a more psychedelic nature (Never one to get in the way of a good press release);

"A true artist, Romain Turzi once again broke free from his own codes. Instead of blinding us with science, he went for the unknown. From disciplinary rock he moved on to revisionary electronics. Turzi's Electronic Experience is set on educating the listener, transmit the process he himself went through, get him out of his intellectual comfort zone. It was already the case with Made Under Authority, then seen as an anomaly, before 'krautrock' became everybody's favourite buzzword – and, in fact, his path is similar to what the prime krautrockers themselves did, like Can embracing reggae or Kraftwerk going techno-pop under the influence of François Kevorkian, both propositions being ill-received in their time.

The François K of Education is PILOOSKI, well known for his edits of pre-existing tracks, making them more danceable and to the point. The same process was used on Turzi's tracks, sometimes too long or unfocused : coming straight from club culture, unlike Romain who'd sooner play music sitting down in his home than dancing in a club, Pilooski moved the cursor from layers of arrangements to the core of the songs, and provided them with the directness that will allow them to speak to the body as well as the mind."

A very special LP then, you can get your copy over at their Bandcamp page. For info on all things Turzi, click here.

It's all right letting yourself go, as long as you can get yourself back..

Very much looking forward to the new Death In Vegas record which is due on Drone at the end of September. As a little precursor main man Richard Fearless recently showcased a few new tunes on Tom Ravenscroft's 6 Music broadcast. You can listen to the mix below & It's also available as a download from their Soundcloud page.
Mega analogue kraut acid vibes ahoy, you can pre-order 'Trans-Love Energies' from the website.

Those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand..

The latest in the Radiohead remix series features Modeselektor & Objekt. It's the latter's rework of 'Bloom' that most tickled our fancy, a bass heavy rejig with more bounce to the ounce. You can listen to both remixes below, as a bonus check out 'Tinderbox' from the first Objekt EP. Highly recommended.

Darling, the legs aren't so beautiful, I just know what to do with them..

Some records are so wonderfully alluring that they lull the listener into a sense of deep serenity ; The debut offering from A Winged Victory For The Sullen is not one for the car then, the line up comprises of Adam Wiltzie (From Stars Of The Lid) and composer Dustin OʼHalloran joined by other luminaries such as violinist Peter Broderick. The group formed in memory of Sparklehorse front man Mark Linkous who sadly passed last year, and they focused very much on recording traditional instruments in large, cavernous rooms.
Think of this long player as a personal aural massage for your ears. Buy it here.

I go on a sunbed so much I hardly ever burn..

Brain Eno's latest opus 'Drums Between The Bells' came out earlier this year on Warp records; It's his second LP for the illustrious electronic label & sees him collaborate with poet Rick Holland. The record is a combination of (Partridge voice) classic Eno and more uptempo, dance floor oriented fare. None more so than on the wondrous 'Glitch'. Pick it up here.

I'm a rompin', stompin', piano playing son of a bitch..

An exquisite album to end the week with from Sweden's Roll The Dice. The follow up to their self titled debut is called 'In Dust' and is out now on the Leaf Label. It's chock full of beautiful, pastoral electronics that immediately bring to mind the likes of Vangelis, Kraftwerk and Cluster; Perfect for the current autumnal season (Although Manchester has apparently bypassed Autumn & headed straight for Winter. Ho hum).
Pick up 'In Dust' here.

Wait a minute. This sounds like rock, and or roll..

The Beats in Space radio communication has been on rare form lately with a series of superb guest mixes from the likes of Horse Meat Disco, Shit Robot, Tiger & Woods and James Murphy to name but a few. I've had my ears wrapped around the Four Tet selection for the last few days and, as you'd expect from one of the most forward thinking producers out there, it contains a raft of new dance floor bombs; Joy O, Floating Points & T Williams all get to show off their new wares. Here's a track from Kentucky resident Milyoo who turns in a mid tempo glitch fest. Get the full release at Boomkat.

Don't Bust My Crust Baby..

I've just put down the immensely enjoyable Keith Richards autobiography "Life"; The story of one mans unshakable love of music with a huge dose of near death experiences and great escapes thrown in for good measure. How did one man get to be so lucky? Well, the sun does shine on the righteous baby.
The overriding feeling I get from his scribes is that Keith would be doing what he does to an audience of none. Music just pours out of him, it's something he has to do. Carry on Keef. Recommended for anyone with a remote interest in music or human beings.

Yeah, you do seem to have a little "shit creek" action going..

Pinch punch & all that, autumn is certainly blowing in the wind ain't she?
Two titans of modern electronic music for you today with the news that Jimmy Edgar & Luke Vibert have interfaced on new tune 'Disco'; It features as part of the 'Universus Vol II' compilation on Circuitree Records and sees the dynamic duo turn in a suitably sluggy, sample-laden ditty.
