Never wear anything that panics the cat..

Maxmillion Dunbar's 'Bare Feet' EP has been lurking at the back of my record box for a while now. Brought to you by one half of the Beautiful Swimmers (Andrew Field-Pickering) it's a sample-tastic offering that shifts effortlessly, from boogie to disco to soul. Pick it up here.

Wooden Shjips look exactly like they sound. On Sunday they treated the Brudenell Social to a tip-top selection of blistering psychedelic noise, a perfect venue for such pursuits. 'Volume 2' is now available in your local record store, it features covers by Neil Young & Serge Gainsbourg alongside their own essential creations. Get it.

The American Dream has run out of gas. The car has stopped..

A little komische disco to start the weekend? Bottin has remixed the likes of Tosca, Oscar G & Wax Stag for his new 'Discourse Diversions' EP. Here's his version of Lindstrom's 'Paaskelyd', which percolates very nicely.

Lindstrom- Paaskelyd (Bottin Remix)

On a completely different tip is J Spaceman's version of Fuck Button's 'Olympians', which comes complete with a crackling fire place and resplendent vocal harmonies. Feels more like a tune to take you into Autumn that the Spring but anyhoo. The package also comes with an Alan Vega rework of 'Rough Steez'. Well worth £2.95. Loads of tour dates for Europe & The US lined up, check the Myspace for all the details.

There was abuse in my family, but it was mostly musical in nature..

The mighty Chrome Hoof are preparing new LP 'Crush Depth' for release in May. To celebrate the band are playing a very special show at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, it's gonna be a very crowded stage as the 12 piece are being joined by a 10 piece choir and a harpist. Also on the bill are HEALTH and Andrew Weatherall, an exceptional line up I think you'll agree. As a little taster here's a track off the new album:

Chrome Hoof- Crystalline (Download)

Excellent couple of remixes in support of Architeq's latest release 'Mind Games'. The Emperor Machine produces a beautiful electroid version, bubbling with his trademark analog synths. Get the release here.

I don't like jail, they got the wrong kind of bars in there..

Young Jarvis's Sunday Service continues to delight, the last broadcast focusing on Easter. Excellent selections from the likes of The 13th Floor Elevators & The Tindersticks amongst others. Here's Johnny Harris doing 'Give Peace a Chance' from his 1970 release 'Movements', which features a whole host of outlandish covers.

Johnny Harris- Give Peace a Chance (Download)

Also slipped in this from The Electric Prunes from their 1968 LP 'Release of an Oath'. Legend has it that by the time they came to record this album none of the original Prunes were present & producer David Axelrod completed the record with session musicians. Certainly has that Axelrod stench to it and is well worth searching out.
