I've been leaking for 27 years, I know how it's done..

'Dirty French Psychedelics' is the latest compilation from the Dirty crew. It's a exceptional collection that focuses on the French music scene circa 1970: "In reality, it is a hallucinated voyage through the land of French pop psychedelics to be listened to in one sitting, eyes half-open in the heat of the summer of 2009". As with all the Dirty compilations it's very limited, pick one up quick sharp. Psychedelics are about perception..

And from 'Dirty Edits Vol 2' here's Pilooski's sublime, stretched out rework of Hai Samurai:

Eat the cheese. Eat the fucking cheese...

Some tracks today that I got off a couple of other blogs that do sterling work: Feel My Bicep does a very nice line in everything disco. I picked up this Rockfunkboogie jam from The Andrew Allsgood Experience a few weeks back, it's been on almost constant rotation ever since. You can get a wax reissue here.

Keytars & Violins host a wide range of excellent music- They posted up Brassica's 'The Centre' recently, now available via Dissident records (And they reckon it's their finest release to date). A noisy start gives way to a super-slow electro groove. Tip-Bloody-Top. Get the 12" here.

Get me a new driver. I don't wanna see this guy ever again..

That Alkan certainly knows his onions- He's compiled a very nice mixtape which is up on XLR8R at the moment and feature's some absolute delights. The Soft Machine's 'We Did it Again' is pure psychedelic pleasure, a stone groove baby..

Mount Kimbie also feature on the mixtape, their recent EP sounds a bit like Popul Vuh jamming with J Dilla & Burial. Phenomenal stuff.

Speaking of J Dilla, Donuts is always most welcome when the Sun is out..

Come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off..

A couple of choice compilations to point you towards today: Trentemoller is due to release his very first mix CD later this month. It's a very relaxed affair that features Beach House, Alan Vega, Two Lone Swordsmen & this beautiful, druggy drone from the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Prins Thomas is next up in the live at Robert Johnson series on Playhouse. It's a splendid mix that takes in many a dancefloor favourite including Capracara, Cage & Aviary and The Idjut Boys. He also slips in Trans Am's superb 'First Words'; The guitar's have a slight whiff of U2, but don't let that put you off. The rest of the track is freakin awesome.

Oh, this is a democratic boy band, is it?

Promises to be a busy year for Siriusmo: He's due to release 2 E.P.'s & a debut long player by the time we'll be putting up the tinsel. First up is the 'Uninvited Guest' EP on Monkeytown Records, the first release on Modeselektor's new label:

"On the occasion of the international financial crisis the two guys from Modeselektor, Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, decided to found their own label, Monkeytown Records, to create a platform for befriended artists.

Modeselektor's buddy Siriusmo personally invited himself to be the very first artist on Monkeytown Records and will be No. 001 of the still virginal label catalogue.
Primarily, Siriusmo aka Moritz Friedrich is a real survivalist, played in a band for many years and is a fan of old keyboards. As a professional artist (painting, illustration, graffiti) Siriusmo lives off temporary jobs and even does construction work now and then. Just on extremely rare occastions can Moritz be seen on stage (children's birthday parties or other family get-togethers) - and even then his mood is rather shitty due to his bad taking of criticism.

His self therapeutical way of life shows a new side with "the uninvited guest". Sometimes bold, sometimes heartsick, melodies that creep under your skin, serious drama, touching melancholy that collapses into absurdism and which makes fun of itself. Technical devices and a lot of phantasy artistically cover up lacking musical abilities. Moritz Friedrich already had quite a lot releases on respective labels. His one and only comment on those releases: " On each record there is one song that I still like, the rest - unfortunately - is shit"

Camera Obscura's new single is a superb slice of summery, sixties pop. Sure to bring a smile to even the saddest of faces. It's off their new album 'My Maudlin Career' which is in your local record store right now. Go & see them play their instruments all over the place.

There's a track on the new Tiga LP called 'Beep Beep Beep'. Surely an ode to his favourite blog?

You can get your tickets here for the bargain price of £25 for the whole shebang. I'll be blogging, tweeting & DJing from the event, have a look at last years highlights.

I'm not afraid of heights. I'm afraid of fallin'..

A couple of older tunes for you today: I've only just discovered this stellar cover of Van Halen's 'Why Can't This Be Love' by Arab Strap; It's a corker, complete with drum machine & strings.

Arab Strap- Why Can't This Be Love (Download)

I've always wanted to start a DJ set with this track, but never quite plucked up the courage. Would be worth it just to see the looks on people's faces...

I had to dress up as an elderly Israeli woman once..

Ola Chico's: A few bits from the previous week or so. The internet went a bit bonkers with the news that Four Tet & Burial have been collaborating together. The first fruits of their partnership comes with a very ltd 12 'Moth/Wolf Club'. Have a go on 'Moth', a melodic 4/4 beauty. Track it down if you can..

Gang Gang Dance get hold of The Big Pink's 'Velvet' & manage to create a perfect homage to Animal Collective before giving it the GGD treatment. Mega:
