Yussuf Jerusalem's debut 'A Heart Full of Sorrow' is choc full of scuzzy delights, very much in the same vein as recent releases from Sic Alps & Hush Arbors. I love the smell of distortion in the morning..

Tim Sweeney first played Simian Mobile Disco's edit of Deerhunter's 'Octet' back in April on his Beats in Space show. Originally made as a tool for DJing purposes, the track has now been thrust onto the internet & a 12" is due on RVNG. A simple but very effective rework:

Well, I squeeze a grapefruit now and again..

It's been a quiet year on the LCD front after 07's insesant touring of 'Sound of Silver'. We've not had many DFA remixes to feast on either but earlier this week their remix of Clinic's 'Tomorrow' surfaced; It's a stellar rejig that takes the original track into low slung funk territories and features more than a whiff of 'Superstition'.

Johann Johannsson's new LP 'Fordlandia' is staggeringly beautiful- The Icelandic composer cooks up a Perfect blend that involves traditional technique's & electronics. Go lie down in a dark room & put this record on your virtual turntable, you'll receive an instant massage of the senses:

It's all gonna be all right..

He's only gone & bloody done it: If you feel like having a celebratory jig, try one of these on for size:
Grace Jones has a new record entitled 'Hurricane' on the shelves, it's her first long player in nearly 20 years. One of the remixes for lead single 'Williams Blood' was provided by Belgian disco duo Aeroplane. Their effort has been turned down by her record label, which is most odd as it contains many of the elements so desired by the modern raver:
  • Obligatory open Hi Hat
  • Hypnotic bassline
  • Uplifting strings with gospel vocals
  • Handclaps
  • Squelchy synth ending
Have a butchers:

Grace Jones- Williams Blood (Aeroplane Dub) (Z Share) (YSI)

Headhunter has his debut ready to drop on Tempa records: 'Nomad' is full of big soundsystem boomers, keep a beady eye on those bassbins. Here's the excellent 'Prototype'.
