Speaking of Tussle, we had the Prins Thomas remix of 'Night of the Hunter' on these pages a few weeks ago. Time to check the original, it's pretty special. New record 'Cream Cuts' is out now, they are also on tour at the moment.

Though flanked by two swarthy state troopers, Paula found her gaze drawn to the chubby saxophonist..

Are you familiar with Banjo or Freakout? If not it's the alter ego of Italian Alessio Natalizia & he certainly likes the finer things:

"I try to have a punk rock approach to music; I tend not not to idolize people. There are a lot of amazing musicians I love… Arthur Russell because he did everything better than anyone. Bob Dylan because he basically is god. Brian Wilson because he is Brian Wilson. The Ramones because I wish I could have been in New York in 1976. Can because a lot of bands would not exist without them. Neu! because they recorded two albums using basically the same drum beat.”

Read the rest of this article over at Fact magazine. His next single, 'Mr. No' is due on the No Pain in pop imprint. It's backed up with a cover of LCD's 'Someone Great'. Here he is getting to grips with Battles 'Atlas'. Total werd UP'S:

David Holmes has new long player 'The Holy Pictures' ready to go: Another record that leans on Germany's psychedelic era. Head over to Data Transmission to hear a mix he has done to celebrate this release. Here's lead single 'I Heard Wonders'.

Finally, a real treat for a Friday: A live version of James Brown's 'Give it up or turn it loose'. JB bellows an amazing vocal performance, backed up by the tightest rhythm section ever. Play this at your local discotheque & watch the punters climb the walls. 'Clap your hands, stomp your feet'.

A week or so ago we faced the possibility of the world imploding due to the Black hole experiment's: Well friends, the danger has not yet passed. We may yet be sucked into the musical black hole with the news that Optimo have remixed Liquid Liquid's 'Optimo'. Play with extreme caution..

Liquid Liquid- Optimo (Optimo Remix) (Z Share) (YSI)

A couple of delicate beauties for you to sink into over the weekend: First up is Autechre's 'Vletrmx21'. Just one synth & a reverb unit:

Up for a bit of squalid Rock & Roll? Good. 006 came from Chicago & gave the world 'Like What me Worry' which is apparently a threatening & hilarious ode to being a loner. Get this any many other Garage rock classics here.

006- Like What Me Worry (Z Share) (YSI)

Riders of the Mark only managed one 45, "The Electronic Insides And Metal Complexion That Make Up Herr Doktor Krieg'. Top psychedelic wig-out.

Aphrodite's Child are just about the most successful progressive rock band to come out of Greece. Original members included Demis Roussos & Vangelis. Their 1970 long player '666' took inspiration from the book of revelation & is considered their finest hour. An excellent purchase.

It seems that Burial took last nights failure to win the Mercury music award rather badly. Maybe Rustie's brand of schizophrenic, arpeggiated beats will find favour with next years panel, the campaign starts here...

An Exercise in Box Ticking..

Some slow boomers to begin the week with: Betty Botox is JD Twitch, one half of Optimo. He's just released his 'Mmm, Betty!' series both digitally & physically. It's a re-edit project which enables him to fiddle with the likes of Hawkwind, Severed Heads & The Jellies. Here's the grinding 'Doragon Balls'.

Flying Lotus's 'Los Angeles' is garnering terrific reviews across the board at the moment: He's also slipped out an E.P entitled 'Shhh!' were he tackles Mr Oizo, Nelly Furtado & this one from J Dilla. Seek it out.

So where are you shipping your foot?

US 69 only released one album- 'Yesterday Folks' came out at the tail end of the sixties and drew heavily on the fear & paranoia that ravaged the beat generation once the good time's had gone. Much like Love's 'Forever Changes' it helped soundtrack the end of an era. Track it down at all costs.

US 69- Never a Day Goes By (Z Share) (YSI)

Whilst we wait for a new Grizzly Bear record, have a go on the new one from Department of Eagles. It's basically a side project from the Bear's Daniel Rossen & his college room mate Fred Nicolaus. Another long player full of shimmering, beautiful harmonies. 'In Ear Park' is out the first week of October.

Department Of Eagles- In Ear Park (Z Share) (YSI)

Luke Solomon's new E.P 'Demons' is out now on Crosstown Rebels: It contains a stellar Brennan Green remix who turns the title track in to a slow, spacey chugger that should be in your DJ box for a long time. Get the full release from Bleep.
