Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Good.

As the title suggests, nothing but top tunes for a Friday: One of my favorite sounds in the world is the combination of Snare drum & open Hi Hat. A perfect example of this is provided by Blackalicious on their wonderful 'Swan Lake', also notable for it's superb lyrics. Check it Yo:

Blackalicious- Swan Lake (Z Share) (YSI)

There's a new Dirty Edit's release on the way containing 3 new Pilooski rejigs. Look out for his Del Shannon 'Gemini' edit thats doing the rounds at the mo. Thought i'd post up the previous release from Discodeine which is fast becoming a space disco classic. Don't leave home without it..

Disocdeine- Ring Modulation (Z Share) (YSI)

And last up is another slab of disco from the violently good Mock & Toof. 'Big Hands' sounds equally smart under the glitterball or when your strutting down the High street. You can grab the 12" from here.

Mock & Toof- Big Hands for a Lady (Z Share) (YSI)

Have a simply Darling weekend..

You're not old enough to have your own opinions..

Don't let the name put you off, the series contains some superb tunes from Southern town USA circa late 6o's/early 70's. It's now grown into a second volume released via Casual records. These are all taken from volume 1 which you can purchase here:

Jim Ford- I'm gonna make you Love me (Z Share) (YSI)

Larry Jon Wilson- Sheldon Church Yard (Z Share)
(YSI)

Sandra Rhodes- Where's your love Been (Z Share) (YSI)

If you want to get a Leg, get a bike..

The Shocking Pinks are back with a new E.P 'Emily' which features remixes from the likes of Nathan Fake, Deepchord, Lee Douglas & this one from the Expanding Head. They take one of the standout tracks (Cutout) from their self titled long player & turn it into a hypnotic, percussive groove. Awesome.

The Shocking Pinks- Cutout (Expanding Head remix) (Z Share) (YSI)

Shackleton continues to blur the boundaries between Dubstep & Techno on his latest release 'Death is not Final' via Skull Disco records. Deep, deep subs. The 12" is available from Boomkat.

Shackleton- Death is not Final (Z Share) (YSI)

Been re-visiting PJ Harvey's 'White Chalk' album from last year & it certainly gets better with every listen: The title track is superb, perfect for a gentle Monday morning.

My sister is my Mum. My Dad is my granddad and my uncle, and my uncle is my Dad..

Time for a little nepotism: I've been working on some tunes with my production partner for the last few months now & wanted to share some with yoose. We're called Dognoize & we specialize in laying down dancefloor lullaby's. We will hopefully have a live show to share with you very soon. This track is called 'Any Thoughts?' & starts off slightly disco, then growls abit & finishes off with a bit of bliss. Come and say Hello.

Dognoize- Any Thoughts? (Z Share) (YSI)

Some new Headman on the excellent Gomma label. Single 'Catch me if U can' is out now ahead of his upcoming new LP 'Catch Me' released in March. Check out his Myspace for tour dates. This is the B-side to the current single & it's a nice piece of Squelch:

Headman- New (Z Share)

Fuck Buttons do a nice line in Melody/Noise/Melody/Noise. New album 'Street Horrrsing' is due to be unleashed anytime soon. Check them out in Space as they seem to be touring until the end of time, including a tasty looking show at London Astoria supporting Battles & Liars. Mmmmmm.

Have a Top weekend.

Hold on, we're going to the Moon..

It's always a little tricky when classic tracks get the remix treatment- Some tunes are just not meant to be fucked with. It was with some trepidation then that i stuck on the new Soulwax remix of the Rolling Stones 'You can't always get what you want'. To be fair to the brothers Dewaele they rarely turn in a duff rejiggle & they do a nice job on this: Giving the track a Slo-mo disco feel, cutting in parts of the original & under-pinning it all with their trademark Soulwax Rumble. It's off the soundtrack to new film 21, which also features a new track from LCD Soundsystem.

The Rolling Stones- You can't always get what you Want (Soulwax remix) (Z Share) (YSI)

Clinic are back with a new LP- 'Do it' is the groups 5th studio album & it seems that they have got the rat out. It's preceded by the single 'The Witch' released sometime in March. One of the UK's most consistent & under-rated bands, they rarely seem to get the coverage they deserve. Maybe thats just how they want it. Check their website for tour dates.

Clinic- The Witch (Z Share) (YSI)

Following on from the success of Panda Bear's 'Person Pitch' recordings, Paw tracks have a new record to share from Excepter. 'Debt Dept' is out March 25th & is very remeniscant of Panda's parent band Animal Collective.

Excepter- Kill People (Z Share) (YSI)

Don't you want to hear my excuse?

The latest compilation from the Playhouse label features a couple of tracks from Rework- This electro plodder came out around this time last year & would give any rave a nice sheen.

Rework- Love Love Love Yeah (Z Share) (YSI)

Vetiver have had a couple of tracks off their last record 'To find me Gone' remixed by Neighbors (Vetiver front man Andy Cabic & producer Thom Monahan). It's been issued by Fat Cat & you can get the 12" at Boomkat. Lovely.

Vetiver- Been so Long (Neighbors Remix) (Z Share) (YSI)

Following on from last week's Chem's remix of Spiritualized, here's Dave Clarke's take on Chemical beats from a long time ago. Would still give any dancefloor a damn good beating.

The Chemical Brothers- Chemical Beats (Dave Clarke Remix) (Z Share) (YSI)

A couple of points of interest- Trevor Jackson & Kieran Hebden were recent guests on Beats in Space. You can get it on the podcast or stream it from the B.I.S website.
Ross Allen is the latest jock to frequent the Fabric podcast & it features a little bit of this & a little bit of that..

The Kills are back with a new LP. The record is called 'Midnight Boom' & is released via Domino records in March- 12 Tracks, 33 minutes long. The last track 'Goodnight Bad morning' sounds a lot like the Velvets 'Sunday Morning'.

An old E.P from Seelenluft has recently become available again: The 'Synchronschwimmer' E.P was originally released in 2001 & sounds like a Cluster/Harmonia jam. You can get it here.

Aidan Moffat's new record is called 'I Can hear your Heart' & is out now: Thought i'd post up this Half-Techno ditty from his old band Arab Strap: Guess where you can get both Aidan Moffat & Arab Strap high quality MP3's from?

Arab Strap- Rocket Take Your Turn (Z Share) (YSI)

That is a kind of fresh madness..

A soothing end to the week: New album from Burnley duo The Boats is on the record shelves, the fantastically titled 'Our Small Ideas'. Beautiful production & frail melodies make this an enchanting listen. You can get the album from Boomkat
The Boats- A Party at Breakneck Speed (Z Share) (YSI)

A new album has also arrived from Portland collective Valet on Kranky records. Lots of feedback, delays & chanting make this an inspiring ride. Especially with your headphones on:

A couple of decent podcasts available from Resident Advisor at the moment. The DFA's Juan Maclean & the ever reliable JD Twitch turn in a couple of good mixes: Twitch in particular leans heavily on the Disco & it features a new track from Woolfy. This is one from a couple of years back:

Woolfy- The Warehouse (Z Share) (YSI)

A nice piece up on Pitchfork with Joe Hot Chip: He talks about some of his favorite records of the moment & cites this Supermayer remix of Rufus Wainwright. A big Epic, if a tad on the long side.

We could say Dad's drank the plot..

Zombie Zombie: "We use Sound and Rhythm as a medium to explore the feeling of fear growing deep inside of you. You'll go thru different emotional stages with the analog effects. The drumming will make your heart beat faster: like in a horror movie when the car won't start, you give it one last try". New album 'A Land for Renegades' is ready to drop on Versatile records. Sort of sound like Neu! spending a long weekend in Weston Super Mare with Giorgio Moroder.

Zombie Zombie- Driving this road until death sets you free (Z Share) (YSI)

A Number of Names features on the recent 'Disco not Disco' release and it also soundtracks this amazing Dance-Off clip on Youtube: Watch out for the secret Roller Skater..
